Default Did I f**k up ??

I did my clutch. When I went to install the reference sensor bracket I realized that one reference sensor is coordinated to the fly wheel. I am dead sure that the flywheel is on where it should be. However, when I put the clutch /pressure plate on I did not refderence it to the flywheel. Should I have? Will it make a difference? I ask this as oit looks like the reference sensor that is towards the rear og the car is referenced to the starter ring? I'm not going any further until I get this figured out so anyone on the list that can help it would sure be appreciated.

TIA,

Lanny

No difference. The ref mark that matters is on the flywheel, the starter ring teeth are evenly spaced.

Just make sure you set the clearance off of the starter ring gear. The sensors are slaved together on the bracket so you only have to set one.

You can either glue a .8mm washer onto the sensor, space it, then take the washer back off. Or I can make you a tool to set it.

Sharky, will that tool come with a free set of Ginsu Knives? Sounds like an opportunity...

I'll whip one up on the lathe tomorrow, gave my prototype away............simple piece of aluminum that takes the place of a sensor. It bolts in just like a sensor, but it's that .8mm longer - keeps you from having to glue **** to your expensive sensor.

How bout $15 shipped UPS?

If you need one right away, I will make it - otherwise I would like to wait until one of our bigger CNC lathes open up so I can make them all at once.......

Before I put the bell housing back on, I mount the sensor bracket with the sensors and use a feeler gauge to do the proper spacing. Then I leave the mount, but remove the sensors, put on the bell housing and put the sensors back in.

However, this method only works when you have access to everything (like when the bell housing is off). Sharky's tool sounds like it would be nice once everything is all assembled.

Glue a paper match onto the end of the sensor (tear of the burny part first) and install it (aligned with reference pin). When you go to start it , the match tears off. Even if some paper remains, the sensor only reacts to the presence of metal within 2mm, "sees" right thru paper and glue, so it makes no difference.
