1st gear useless
i recently bought a 88 951 and sadly no nothing about the car bought it in a rush with no records. anyway the car has some mods, full 3in exhast (no cat), some kind of chips (seeing as it has no rev limiter) and an upgrade maf. this is as far as i know. it has enough power to spin the tires in 1st as soon as it hits power band and will do the same in second occationally untill the tires are warm. the tires are yoko avs100 and have about half live left. I no this is silly but about how much rwhp does it take for you guys to have simmilar results. i really need to get records of the car from previous owners but have had trouble. and also for what its worth i have a g-meter which i put on the car mostly for fun, but according to that its doing 0-60 in 5.1 (my best so far these damn things lag like a bitch) and 1/4 in 13.7 @105 how accurate that is i cant say. im just looking for ballparks of what u guys think for rwhp, it needs a trip to the dyno

Spinning the wheels in 2nd gear on a dry level surface with good tires requires about 330 ft-lb of torque.
See post # 9 in this thread for the detailed assumptions.
Btw, I am sure your “clutch budget” finds 1st gear very useful.

ya the no rev limiter really scares me its easy to hit the rev limiter by accident and when it doesnt have one who knows what rpm i have hit, ill take a pic of it when im not at school. as far as the tire size somthing i forgot to mention 255 40 17 rears.

also based on your caluculation of needing only 200ft/lbs of torque to spin in first gear couldn't a stock 951 be able to come damn close if not have that amount of power.
