I have 968 and a 951 parts car ? Ready for Turbo 968 !

I think I would like to Use the 3.0 as it sits, maybe balance the lower end do light porting polishing in the head, beef up the vario cam for no failure if possible, maybe a crank scraper, and good engine management. I would like to maintain the vario cam and try to maintain a stock look ? Money is not the issue, but I believe cost effectiveness is always best ! This car will be weekend driver. I would also like to be able log into the engine management and monitor. Thanks for replies keep them coming !

There are many, many ways to skin this cat. Some cost effective and some very expensive.

Try to get a hold of Excellence from June 2005. Theres an article in there with a turbo'd 968. They used the original 3.0l with shorter Carillo rods (w/stock pistons) to get the right compression.

The 3.0l with the 16v head is a better motor in every way. If you don't mind the extra work of building one with low compression pistons and modding other parts of the motor, I'd try to stick with it. If you want something cheaper and easier, just swap a 2.5 turbo motor in. They have plenty of displacement and plenty of potential for most people's needs. Myself, I don't really like the 8v heads and would avoid them if possible. An 8v head is subpar efficiency for a 3.0l motor IMO. Just FYI but, SFR does 16v turbo intake/exhaust manifolds if you're looking for a bolt-on type solution. You could save a ton of money by simply welding different flanges onto some of the stock stuff or stock 951 components, or you could fabricate your own intake/exhaust. Though, for the love of god, if you turbo your 3.0L please don't do it an injustice by using a K26, no intercooler, or some of the other ghetto 968 turbo stuff I've seen before.
