Why would you say that they are just having fun. Every rennlister knows 951 and 928 guys get along just fine, like lit matches and gasoline.

Are you sure the S2000 is a true driver's car? And were does that driver drive? And are you sure the 928 is only a slow response GT cruiser?

I love the S2000. But its "Robustness" is lacking. And I have taken it to the track, so I have that experience to tell me as well. I have driven it every day since I bought it back and forth to the office. Put the top down on late-sun evenings. My son calls it the racecar, but couldn't pick another one out if he tried. He say a GLIMPSE of a Grey-Green 928 one day and shouted "That car is EXACTLY like Dadies Grey Car!"

No Prompting....

Oh, and the prices on the S2000s have dropped enough that its sale will fund nothing but.... the neg-equity hole that its created in 6 months. Thats if I can even afford to sell it.

The S2000's tactile feel is like piloting a mosquito. But when asked to have all-out lateral grip, it lacks any real stability mid-corner. The 928 is not a mosquito, but its also not a bull in a china shop (well, my euro was at that one night-autoX - fun times). Its mid corner propensity to stick and continue to stick is well-known.

And any production weight issues on the 928 are easily solved by a resounding strip of the interior, some go-fast-light parts, and a 7.0L engine from the original block.

I always ask people who state that the 928 is willowy and too heavy (feeling) what year and type of 928 they drove. What mileage? What has been replaced? All too often I get lists of "I don't know" or 175k mileage statistics and unknown replacement schedules on shocks, springs, bushings, tie rods, ball joints.

I think very few people (including those on the 928 board and email lists) have driven a 928 with all new suspension bits, pieces, bobs and widgets, and even fewer with those things replaced AND some easy weight removed. Very few indeed.

Play though.

The S2k is only twitchy and unstable mid corner with US Dealer alignment specs. It gets significantly better with UK specs, and even more responsive with 20mm more tire front and rear. To say the 928 even compares to the S2k on a road course is a joke. I've driven both on the street (and the S2k on the track), and ridden in setup versions of both around the Glen.

I loved my 928 and would have one today, but I just can't afford any nice GTS 5 speed I've seen. It won't be long before I have around $23,000 total invested in my 89 944 Turbo making it a 2.8 liter stroker running 18psi. Way more performance than and still not as much invested as the current prices for GTS's.

My jump the shark joke was not meant to be derogatory.

Gabriel, it was a uhaul parked on top of a 951, helicopter shot, you could barely tell it was a 944 the truck was mounted so far up on it.

I have some laptimes by Mark Kibort in a Street Driven 928 on the same race course (Sears I want to say) as a Track Prepped and stripped S2000 with wing that would disagree with you. I own both. Why would I disparage one or the other? And why the derogatory response in bold (my emphasis)? We can't hold a civil conversation about anything here with info, experience, opinion and facts? I'll ask you just as I ask everyone - the 928 version you drove on the street and track - what was it? What year? What was done?

The UK alignment (I did this immediately upon learning of it) has not totally removed the inherent twichty-ness that is a rear drive Honda trait. The recent Car and Driver where they tested a large group of Cars around he same track with as much being equal as was possible was a great example that certain cars are just in different leagues, even though the goals are the same. A Lotus Elise/Exige comparision with a Corvette Z06, GT3, or Ford GT comes to mind.

Again - I have driven this car for 7 months or so. I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't think I would at least enjoy certain aspects. I can afford to keep it if I wanted to, and I can probably afford to sell it if I get a good price. I'll be pushing the start button for the ride home in about 12 minutes here. But the 928 is so much more. I have 2 928s. One will be a race car, and the other a leather clad (but still lightened) street car. No more compromises, and riding around in the S2000 with the top up or down, with my 6'3" 250 frame, I can't help but feel like I am driving... A compromise.

You may want to have a look at what a 15k S4 5spd with 10k invested in Boost and Suspension gets you.

I think a better question is why you continue to troll the 951 forums?
