I agree that the top shock bolt makes no sense as it sticks out further on the inside than outside of houseing.

my car is an 86.

The offset required depends on the year model of vehicle - the earlier models requiring the 45 offset and the later ones the 65.

I have an '89 and 11x18 with 63 offset - with the right tyres they would be fine.

A lot of vendor sites make mention of reversing the top shock tower bolt for the early model cars when running 11x18. I don't think anyone in this thread has come up with a proper answer as to what that is supposed to mean.

I am considering a set of BBS LM for my car in 9x18 in front and 11x18 rear..

And what is reversing the top shock tower bolt, It could only be inserted one way ???
I don't think there's an absolute and once your going out to the extreme widths it may come down to variances in car to car. Also how the suspension is sitting.
As for this reversing the top shock bolt, the jury is out on this one...

if 18x11 et 63 fits on 89 with no spacer it would suggest an et40rim will poke way out, would need chassi mod.

you can come and try my wheels blodstrupmoen, since they are ET63 they would become ET50 or 56 useing a 13mm or 7mm spacer. I have a friend makeing some crude test ones with no centering, just to test fitment

is there a difference in ET on 87 and 89?

Geneqco was referring to slicks. See his last posts on this.

It`s to cold to start up the car , I run on SAE 50 oil ... I need to heat the oil ..

I don`t think there is any difference in ET .. Anyone know for sure?

That's right... on my car, no chance without mods. On an '86, different story from what i hear.

yes, 86 is the best spec.. err

my testfit of ET63 rim on 86 suggested 27-29mm spacer meaning ET34-36 is correct. so even a ET40 rim would need a spacer on 86.

We've trial fitted with Pirreli racing slicks... 305 x 660 x 18. The 645s would be better as the 660s are a little tall - they do fit with a little clearance but not really enough given the sidewall flex these tyres are likely to experience. my mechanic said a similar size in an R spec or road tyre should be okay.

ok heres what ive learned fitting 295's on the back of my car. both sides are not the same clearance wise- on my car. Camber effects clearance. Since i have some camber in the rear for the track, this makes your wheel that much tighter. The drivers side fit perfectly w/ an 8mm spacer. The PS fits perfectly w/ a 15mm spacer. Im waiting for my 15mm hubcentrics to get here so i can fit them on both sides and see if that will work-with longer studs. Tires look like if they are well centered i should have plenty of clearance for suspension and sidewall flex w/o hitting or rubbing anything. I have 375 rear coilovers w/ reindexed rear torsions.
