Default New Waterpump Defects?

I received a new waterpump from Lindsey today and it seems to have some casting/finishing defects. This is the first time I've seen the actual water pump so I do not know if this is normal.

At first inspection, the box that it came in was damaged and the water pump had broken through its box. The box was inside of another box so I thought that was weird, but then again only newspaper was used for the packing.

The water pump has dents in it and the seal has what looks like machining defect where it grinded into the seal. Here are some pictures for your input, I will be calling them tomorrow to find out. But any thoughts would be appreciated.

Here is a link to where all the photos are

looks like a usual laso pump, there is one small defect where the radiator hose goes but that shouldnt make a difference, the hose will still seal

oh yeah I hear nothing but good as well and I can't blame them as it seems more to be a manufactor defect. I just want to be sure that once I put it in I'm not going to have problems and if I do, that they will be able to resolve it.

I always thought brand new water pumps ceased production, and that now all water pumps are either remanufactored or rebuilt.

This thread made me look over at the new waterpump I have sitting on the floor next to me and it has the exact same markings as yours does. I got it from paragon, but it looks like its the same laso company that makes them.

Looks a bit strange to me. Ask Dave if the missing material is a concern for propper function or not. From practical point of view as long you can mount it and the hose fit's it could be ok.
On the other hand there remains the question what dose the pump look like from the inside (considering the outside) and does it work?
Ask Dave before use the pump.

As long as you don't see obvious cracks like this you are OK, it will seal fine.

I got a new water pump thru Zims last year. It came in a differnt box, but the exact same inner bag. It has the EXACT SAME casting thing (divit?) where the hose goes. I've only put a couple thousand miles on it, but no problems whatsoever. Sounds/looks like this is common on these units .....

Well Dave got back to me and he states that yes it is a casting flaw however all the pumps he has purchased have come like that within the last year and it will not leak.

Whew! That makes me feel better. So anyone else out there that gets one like this, don't worry about it.
