already one but...
No offense intended toward the owner of the car mentioned in this post:
But Guns951's car is a step above in terms of execution...at least from what I've seen so far.
I've seen this car before & it looks amazing in the gulf blue & orange - are you planning something similar?

This is an incredible project. Being able to follow progress is on a build such as this is one of the reasons we all frequent Rennlist. Thanks!
Sorry if I missed it in an earlier post, but do you have a specific plan for the Gulf livery? I've seen this car before & it looks amazing in the gulf blue & orange - are you planning something similar?

guns car is a HUGE step in a different direction. There will be no other 951 on t6he planet like it. Truely a one off in terms of parts/detail/design.

Thanks for the interest in the project. As John and others have already mentioned, this is a project nearing a factory effort. There are other gulf colored cars out there, but there will not be another Gulf GTR. This is a rough idea of the paint scheme we'll be going with, obviously the stripe will be more flowing and the colors coded correctly, but you get the idea. It will have the Gulf meatball on it along with other endorsement stickers of the period I've selected.
Below are some examples of the paint quality the Martin Brothers chrun out. The Martin Brothers look down upon perfection, there isn't a single paint job out there that would put theirs to shame. Trust me when I say this, they stand behind what they do 150% and will not let another out shine you, and they're super modest about it as well. Some of the NICEST and MOST PROFESSIONAL people I've ever worked with.

WOW. best car project I have ever seen. can't wait to see the outcome
this is imo the proper way to do it, I hated those riveted wheelarches you had on before.

Joe: The shop is in Asheboro, North Carolina - Martin Brothers Paint & Body. Its Brooks (the guy with the camera) and Kyle (the guy looking away from the camera). They've been doing show work their whole lives and get business from all over the country.
They can make fiberglass and carbon fiber look like factory steel. They're not inexpensive but they are the best.
Thanks all for the kind words. I'm looking forward to the progress on the cage.

Okay, these were taken yesterday while they're waiting for better weather to take the bare metal body to the cage place.
Here you can see the vents in the door frame closed up and smoothed out. Still tons to be done, but its actually coming back together now.
We've stopped cutting off and taking away (except for the material forward of the strut towers) and are now creating instead of disassembling!
