stupid question - removing rear speakers

Hi All,
Sorry I haven't been on the board for a while. New job is kicking my as$ and taking away all my internet play time.
I have what should be a simple question. I want to remove the rear speakers (I have the later 10-speaker option) to lighten the car. Radio is long gone so the speakers are just dead weight.
I've tried prying on the grill surround and it won't budge. Seems to be screwed in from behind. Does the grill pry off or do I have to pull the entire panel off?
Thanks in advance,
Jerome

Removing the speakers will save maybe 10 pounds total. Is it really worth the effort?
If you want to save weight, take out the passenger's and rear seats. That's a lot more than 10 pounds and takes about an hour.

Thanks Guys,
Yeah, 10# may be worth it.
PCA stock class rules require leaving all interior panels except for what is affected by the roll cage. I'm working on removing sound deadening material under the carpeting, rear seatbelts, speakers, etc. because I need to drop about 70# from the car.
I'm not sure I can pull the side panels off with the cage in place. I'll try it, if not I'll trash the grilles and glue them back on.

Please don't trash the grills, the 10 speaker option is hard to find. I'll trade you panels. If I was closer I'd switch them for you myself. I'm dying to find a set.

you need to pull the rear side windows, pull the panels and then replace- not as hard as it sounds- you can get the rear side windows out by peeling up the edges and pushing outward slowly around the window...make sure you dont drop it though. Then when you put it back in you can stick a rope in the channel where the body fits, push the window into place and pull the rope out slowly as to pull the rubber back into the car-from the inside.

Thanks Guys,
I'll try pulling the panels back just enough to get the speakers out this coming weekend.. Considering where my cage is, even with the windows out I'm not sure I can get the panels completely out of the way.
