Default Calling all 2.8L (What Turbo?)

Looking to hear from other 2.8L 951 owners.

I want to know what kind of turbo you are running and your opinion on the turbo as well as any dyno graphs or other specs you can give. My thanks in advance.

jwl is running a VR IV kit, not sure on the specs, whatever is in there. Car is great, no dyno yet, he's too busy but at 17psi, and I've driven it, it is just incredible and pulls like a damn bull.

Isn't Porschfile selling his old Stage 4? Why don't you pick that up? You'll save a TON of money. I know everyone that has had ownership of it and they're all trustworthy. You'll just be saving money on a brand new turbo.

yes.....thank you.....I am aware of that turbo but what I am looking for is real world experience. Now if someone with a 2.8L that has that turbo on their car could tell me their opinion and show me some dyno graphs that would be exactly what I'm looking for.

lol. Excuse me for trying to help you out. I have no 2.8 liter experience so I guess I'll just keep my mouth shut.

On my 2.8, I'm running a Lindsey Super 75, 8cm^2, p trim turbine. Running stock exhaust minus cat plus open muffler. I made my own chips by modifying an Autothority set. At 16 psi I got 335hp at the wheels with preliminary tune. Full boost is 4000rpm+. Since I had it on the dyno I've improved the tune considerably, better A/F ratios and more spark advance. It is making more power (I'd guess 350 at 16psi) but RPM for boost onset hasn't changed. At 20psi on the street it is a BLAST!

Having experienced the Super 75 on a 2.8L I can tell you it feels fairly slow to spool but hits like a raging bull. I'd probably opt for Vitesse knowing John's customer service and how his turbo spools up on my 2.5!

Now that is a hell of a spool-up time for 1 bar, and that's VR's older version. Good for you David, and providing hard data too. That should help the author a bit who posted this thread, right?

I've had both a LR Super 75 & VR Stage 5, but not on a 2.8L, so I can't contribute to the thread, sorry Andial951.

Though I don't have personal experience with the 2.8L YET...I am planning 2.8 with Super61 and am building for 18psi. LR had a 2.8 in their shop with only a sport turbo, it was spooling so fast it was popping the BOV! And it was still making crazy big power. Not enough turbo IMHO.

Yes that is some quick spool up. I like the quicker spool up since my 951 is a street car......and will see very little track time......I got the NA for that.

RKD....I appreciate the info even if second hand. Another well known builder suggested I use a LR Super 61.

I didnt clarify at the beginning of this thread because I just wanted to hear everyones experience but since this is a street car Im looking for quicker spool up and I dont mind losing some top end power. Im also only looking for a peak of 400rwhp at 20psi but will probably normally run at @ 16psi........
