Default Wastegate question

Can I get a wastegate rebuilt? I've not spent anytime looking at them can you rebuild yourself?

Before I get all the "don't waste your money get a Tial" comments, I have to keep it stock for E class.

"D. Turbocharged cars cannot exceed factory specified maximum boost, nor can any of the stock turbocharger, turbocharger plumbing, or boost control components be replaced with non-stock components or altered in any way that could affect performance."

They are not generally rebuildable by design. The lindsey club gate is supposed to be sanctioned as a stock replacement I think, at lease under some rules, since it uses the stock valve body, etc. Might want to see if it'll work for you.

That sonds about right. In the past Danno was rebuilding them, I don't know if you want to go that route?

Original wastegate can be rebuild. Here's Sandens (Sweden) solution:

The diaphram and everything else was fine on mine, but the seat was cracked in three places. This held the valve open at each place the seat was cracked. I didn't have the $$$ for a Tial right now. I asked the machine shop that was doing the flywheel about the WG. He made a new seat for $40. I got 1K on it and it's doing great.

The lindsey racing clubgate will keep with the specs but same price as a dual port $400.

My Lindsey clubgate lasted all of under 3 years on my car. Not sure what has failed (no boost), but I took the 17 year old stock wastegate off the shelf in the garage and put it back on. Problem solved

One of these days I will call Lindsey and see if they can "help" me out

I wouldn't expect a whole lot of 'help'. I returned a part new in the original packaging and they refunded me 70%.

Just browsed their website but I can't seem to find the cost - my swedish is pretty limited, to say the least. How much do they charge for a rebuilt WG ?

Edit : just found it : 2000 SEK
