Get an SA rated helmet. More and more DE hosting organizations are requiring them over the M rated helmets. An M rated helmet will limit who you can/can't run with.

I agree that if your buying a brain bucket, get one SA2005 rated. They will be a little more money but a Snell 2000 rating will only be good for a short period of time in most PCA circles.

Yea, when you think of cost per year, 2005 is the way to go. Even if you only use it for a year and decide to sell, it still have 8 years good on it compared to only 3.

oh...sorry I was looking at the Arai and Simpson helmets when i saw this thread. I like the look of the flat black super bandit 2005.

One question though, on a closed face helmet for a 951 would I want one that has a forced air connection? Or are they not that hot and such?

Most DE events only run 20-30 min sessions, not that bad on heat. sweat in your helmet is the last thing on your mind while driving. Remember that you CAN NOT PUT A PRICE ON SAFETY. Nobody wants to or means to crash, thus accident. Be safe and have lots of fun. Trust me your manhood will cry uncle before your car limits do. 10 years of track, 3 being an instructor and my car still amazes me every time I fire it up.
love my 951
brian
p.s. I swear by simpson products, they test them for me.

I use a regular bandit Sa2005 and It's a pretty good helmet. It's not great for shifter karts or motorcycles as it does tend to generate some lift at about 90MPH. For in-car stuff it's good because unlike a motorcycle helmet, the visor does not seal to the helmet and never fogs up.

It also looks awesome
