Default 17psi...in first gear!!! :)

Yep, gotta love the cold air

Was about 45-50 degrees here so I got on it a little this morning. With the few cold days we get down here I think everyone with a turbo'd car goes out to drive when ever they can when it's cold.

So I run 18-19psi and was just curious to see how much boost I could build in first gear with the cold air and right at redline I saw 17psi.

15psi here in 40 degree weather yesterday! Got 16 in 4th and I normally have it set at 15 so I may need to dial it down a bit. Of course I'm going to change the oil tonight and put it in winter storage tomorrow.

Unless you have some leaks or a HUGE turbo, that doesn't sound right.

Even when stock setup and no MAF and in the cold I could get 15, when I was running 18 like I am now.

No need to turn it down, it is just physics

Colder air is denser; turbo and IC run more effeciently with colder intake air and colder air flowing over them.

Well, IIRC you can run 1 additional psi for every 15 degree drop in intake temps and not need to make any a/f changes or octane etc.

So if they are like -50 below, that is possible?????????????

LOL!

No, I wouldn't even tell someone that joking, because they might not know any better and try it!

I ran 24-25 on my old car, I actually ran 30psi once to see what would happen...

This new one is still sitting in the driveway waiting for lots of work to be accomplished on it.

When you were running 24-25, was that daily driver and/or you car at those levels on a steady basis? or just a once in a while thing

Totally serious.
Been running 28 costantly for almost 4000 miles now - just to break in the new turbo.

The Xylene King runs that now. And yes, he's been doing it a real lot with the new turbo too. I kid you not!!

I guess if we all had unlimted supplies of Xylene we would also

Well, I guess not with stock head/studs though....right?

What is most you run with pump?
