i must correct myself, i am unsure whether the housings are alloy or steel. thinking now they could be steel. i will check.

911's are completely different. Because of the layout an LSD is almost useless, especially on 964's and 993's. I have done numerous track days in 911's and have yet to get one to open up until they start to hit about 280whp, then it becomes and issue. The GT3 and GT2 996/7 LSD's are because they have enough power. 20% is more than sufficient while trying to counterbalance that huge chunk of mass behind the rear axle.
