I was planning on changing out the transaxle fluid in the '86 951 but couldn't find the recommended redline mt-90 or swepco 201 in town. I finally found a place that carries Amsoil products and bought 3 quarts of this:

will this stuff work?

Amsoil is suppose to be the best. We have a guy in the local PCA that has a new Twin Turbo and is an Amsoil dealer. Everyone around here is starting to change over to there products for the race cars and street cars. It really is great stuff and you can go longer between oil changes. Talk to a Rep they can really open your eyes about the different product they have. So to answer your question yes it will work.

That gear oil will be fine,
If you track your car I would opt for the severe gear oil. porduct code SVG-QTC.
BTW you should get the hand pump if you dont have one, makes refilling a snap.
Cheers
