Question Holy WTF?????????

Hi,

I have an 88 "EURO" Turbo S. It came without airbags, cruise, sunroof, cat converter and so on. My turbo ingested a bolt that came loose from the stock airbox and when I installed the turbo from my wrecked 88 (see my other posts for pics, death threats etc.) I discovered it also came without an O2 sensor. There is just a plug in the downpipe from the turbo. Obviously the car will run without it as it's running very strongly now. What does this mean for tuning, MAF install, A/F meters etc? Anybody? SuperTool? Mommy? Anyone?

Lanny

Had an 88 TS Welt Chips with shim and a LBE. The car ran much better with the O2 sensor unplugged. In fact, my mechanic recommended it.

it just depends if it's a dd and whether or not you need to pass emissions.

87951[/QUOTE In the great Province of Alberta there is no emissions tests to be passed. (As a a matter of fact I'm pretty sure most of the drivers haven't passed a license test.)

Hey I thought it was pretty funny lol.

The euro cars came without an O2 sensor. The only cars that had o2 sensors are the cars that needed to pass emissions. You car from its origin did not have to.

Oh yeah as far as tuning goes, I dont think it means crap anyway. I dont think people really tune these cars off of that O2 sensor anyway. When you install a wideband, I believe you get anohter O2 sensor and put it elsewhere. Narrowband will run off of the stock O2 sensor, but then again narrowbands are notorious for being inaccurate.

Nice lookin car man! I have a US spec 88TS that I'm currently converting to the "Euro" look. I like it a lot better. Not sure I'm too keen on the non sunroof tho, gotta love that sunroof!

They have license testing in Alberta?.... You're kidding, right?
I thought they all came in boxes of Cracker Jacks? (speaking as a true Calgarian.....)

Seriously though, euro cars did not come with O2 sensors and do not require them to run. This is part of how they claim higher power output from the european cars as well. Would a WBO2 fit into the threaded hole for a normal O2 sensor?.... If so then this is a most convenient thing for you.

Hi,

I wanted a sunroof but loved the car so here I am. After changing the wastegate to a Lindsey D/P, adding a Blitz SC-id EBC, changing the turbo as the first got indigestion after ingesting a stray bolt from the stock airbox and adding a 3 bar pressure regulator the car works great! Thanks for the compliment and good luck with your conversion project.

Hi Lart,

We have chatted through E Bay. My trading name is Frozenass. Good to see you back on the board! I'm not sure what you mean with the pissing question but we drink the same water as everyone else. I guess if you are downsteam from another town there me be some effluvia in the water but that is true for every city and town in both our countries.

Lanny
