I don't know about Charlottesville, but here in Richmond, Robert Overholser at Lufteknic is very good. His number is 804-359-9393. Its only an hour away.

I just moved to Charlottesville, VA, and also have an '86 951. I'd also like to know if there is a reputable Porsche (or even VW) mechanic around here. If you find one, please let me know!

Whatever you do DONT take you 951 to a VW shop they wont have a clue 2 different worlds

Here it is, I haven't needed his services but I was keeping his name in case I had problems at VIR. Several people spoke highly of him at the track.
BTW: I did drive by his place and it is off of the beaten path, take a good map of the area. My guess it will be over a two-three hour drive.

There are a couple of Porsche shops near Summit point
one is Performance engineering the # is (304-728-8222).
also there is dave coleman
Summit point is about 20 min from front royal va
Charlottesville is not to far away if I remember correctly.
Intersport in vienna is good
IMA motorsport is amazing, but I think they are in Arlington

Thanks for all the replies. Still looking for a good shop near Charlottesville. No chance the car is going near a VW shop. There are several good shops in Richmond although that is at least an hour away. Summit Point (Good FV memories) is at least ninety minutes.
