Default Removing crush ring from X-over pipe?

Are there any tricks to getting the crush ring out of the end of the X-over pipe where it connects to the turbo?

I've sprayed it a few times with PB, and used a blade and a screwdriver to try to pry it out. Also tapped with a punch and hammer to try to wake it up. No luck. Any tips?

Drill a small hole in the ring and use a pick to lift it out.

Get it spinning in the groove first then I usually use a small chisel but Steve has an interesting idea.

small chisel to make it spin and it deforms it enough to poke it out.

Yeah, a small pick or chisel has always worked for me. Its a pain sometimes but eventually it pops up on one edge.

PHP Code:
small chisel to make it spin and it deforms it enough to poke it out
Bingo.

I used the drill-a-hole method, and pryed it up out of there (was on the WG dump pipe actually), man was that thing compressed in there.

That sucker's in there good. It doesn't spin at all. I ran a sharp blade around the edges to break any rust and crap that may be holding it in there.

I just tried drilling a small hole in it. It's either made of undrillium, or my bits are dull. Hardly put a dimple in it.

I sprayed it again with PB, and I'll give it another whack tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm sure something will work.

Funny thing is, the one on the downpipe came out without any effort at all.

Heat, PB, heat PB, then hit it with a chissel. The heat helps wick in PB into the the gaps between the seal.

Now that I think of it, I drilled all the way through the ring, and bent a small screwdriver prying it up.

If you have oxyacetylene, just heat it to red hot and it'll pop itself out.

Why is it, that the seemingly easiest tasks cause us the most grief???

The.... torch/PB/torch/PB/hammer & punch/PB/torch/hammer & screwdriver/PB/torch/drill until bit breaks/pick/PB/torch/razor knife (now with broken blade)/PB/torch/hammer & punch/PB/torch/tiny screwdriver (now bent)/.....trick worked!!! Sheesh...
