Nice work Duke..

What is the turbo you are running. I know that it's Garrett DBB, but is it GT35R? or GT3040R? what AR, and when do you see the boost? What kind of camshaft is being used? Just curious!

Absolutely, this was a compromise to just get it done and getting the car on the road.

The spec on this engine are official so here we go:

Garrett GT3082R (former 35/40R) T04S 0.70 a/r compressor housing 4" intake, 0.82 a/r T3 turbine housing with 3" v-band discharge.

A Milledge B13 variant camshaft with a bit more duration than the regular B13 if I remember correctly.

Boost is only 0,65-0,7 bar right now so spool up is a bit limited of the boost controller. The boost settings in Nira are the most advanced ever, you wouldn't believe all the settings for it. I need to post a screen dump, it's complete madness... but effective when setup correctly.

I would estimate 1 bar of boost at mid/late 3000 when finished.

After shifts the turbo hits instantly, actually a bit too fast for the Tial 38mm to react. Hopefully the boost spikes will go away with boost above 1 bar.

Nira boost settings... (this is the standard Nira settings, not from a 951 map).
Note that it includes 14 different tables!

Have you used some paste to avoid leaks ?

Have you noticed overall "performance" increase over the stock intake ?
(mixture stability, flow, etc).

It is flat but have a ruf surface. It is a paste between just to be sure.

Yes, performance is way over stock. The intake volume is about 3,5 liter and that will make flow moore equal. The runners are 6".

Problems with the stock is to small volume, way to long runners for a turboengine.

Here is my new intake for the 700 hp engine. (Engine is just a dummy)

That intercooler setup is bad *** did you make that? The intake looks good too.

Yeeees, its big (4,5 x 24 x 14" core) and have handcrafted tanks in 4 mm alu. Its special made for me.

Duke, can you explain why did you choose that turbo? Would'nt the GT30R wih 1.06 better for 3.0 liter streetcar?

is the GT35R THE ULTIMATE for 3.0 liter 8 valve motor?

For the current boost levels a 30 compressor would be better but not later on with 500+ hp.
For the future boost levels the 0.82 a/r turbine is calculated to still keep backpressure below intake pressure.

And Markus you should know better than to ask "is the GT35R THE ULTIMATE for 3.0 liter 8 valve motor? " without taking boost levels and desired power into account

You know I have started to realise that max HP is not the most importand thing here.. What count's IMO is broad powerband and good response.. What compress ratio did you choose anyway? I have not seen GT30R putting a 951 engine into 500hp's its more like 480 or so. If I remeber correctly then Miikael's car with 57mm impeller (55 on garrett GT30R) did reach 528 on dyno but he's car had one of the nice'st intake manny around + SFR stage2 headers.. milledge cam plenty of mods..

I cant wait to see how this car performs with 1.5 bar.. should be fast as helll.. Are you still runnign stock headers, what is your afr at the moment? Trying to keep it 12.3-12.5?

I am trying to convince myself that our cars can be fast, drivable with good broad powerband without relocating the turbo, if going big..

I just drove My friend VIPER GTS for some day's, did not get that cozy feeling in the steering wheel but this thing is for sure with widest powerband ever..but kind of spooky to drive..you know what im talking about right?

Did you dial in some more boost to the engine?

Nice craftsmanship. Very nice. I think this intake is going to flow better then the other one in this thread. The runner lengths seem a tad bit short but it should work great at high rpms. The intercooler is massive and those end tanks are really nice.Just one thing though and I am speaking from expereince.Be carefull about gridning the welds on your intakes,plenums,etc........We grind our welds off but we weld from the inside and out and we use a .120 wall aluminum. If you just weld from the outside,we have seen the (.120)plenums crack with high boost pressures(25+psi).
