Default cold start trouble here is a hint

so I changed my dme harness to another one and instantly had cold start issues...just like my old harness before i fixed the DME temp connector(blue one) So i took the connector off my newer harness and low and behold the wires are exposed and touching one another under the rubber boot.I know lindsey makes replacements for alot of connectors......this one should be the next one made available..hint ..hint. With new connector on cold starts are nice again.

This eng temp sensor affects all of he running conditions, not just the cold start. The cold start is the first to show up.

Every connector in these 20 year old harnesses are corroded enough for them to short out.

IAN when are you going to come out to some events. I still want to see that car.

alex soon if the snow doesnt fly ...again thanks for the computers let me know what ya want for them. Still not sure if mine was the problem.... Have you finished your car ?? Mine has been on the road with again mostly idle issues but getting better. I'm going to eurasia on the 19th to have a power steering hose replaced and suspension finished. backend needs a one inch spacer to lift it up a little and the frontend is getting racersedge a arms put in. I'm considering putting some 968 hood vents (naca) When they come in I will go over to joey's place and see what they can do. Again how's your car ??

Sorry for reviving an old thread, can someone explain if you can fix the connector without replacing it???? This may very well be my problem. I have not yet checked it, but this could be a good next step as I have a new sensor.

The connector is usually not the problem, the wires leading to the connector are the problem. A quick solution is to cut the wires a bit back, get a replacement connector, splice and solder new wires. Use heat shrink and some insulation jacket over the new wires.

BTDT, got the T-shirt... Bruce

PS... Side note...I'm not totally sure but I think that might be the same connector used on the mid year 911 CIS and available here for about $4 or you can buy it on ebay for $25 ... ;] Those 911 guys are a hoot.
