I'd pimp a turbo 968 cab.

If its over 45 degrees I put the top down – love it. As far as the looks – I think it is one of the best conversions out there – with the top down it is equal or better than the coupe. Convertibles aren’t meant to have the top up so I won’t comment there!

It is not as stiff as the regular coupe (but far better than most cabs) – but this is a street car, I have a couple of extra stiff coupes for the track. Once you really get into the track thing you don’t look for the ‘ultimate’ handling street car because they pale in comparison to the tack car. Better to have a fun toy!

I think the 944/968 series derives much of it's timeless image from the smooth lines of the hatch and rear spoiler. You take that away and put a plain trunk lid on it and you have a high-quality LeBaron......

Have you taken a close look at one in person? (the 944 cab, not the LeBaroon!)

DO IT!!! Then do some top speed testing hehehe....turbo cabs aren't my cup 'o tea, but for the street in an area like yours it would be a rejuvinating experience.

I will never have to worry about vacuuming it out!
And yes - this area is great for cab rides, city driving is not much more fun in a cab but out here in the finger lakes it is a great thing.

Chris,

I have a turbo cab, although nothing near as badass as what you're planning, just an S2 with a nearly stock 2.5L turbo engine in it. I have to say go for it, I absolutely love my car and put the top down every chance I get. The sound of the turbo at 4K rpm with the top down blasting down a back road is unbeatable. Seriously, do it, you won't regret it at all. Mine took over 2 years to finish (needless to say, I don't have your skill) and it is still in progress, but driving and always puts a smile on my face. Oh, and keep us posted on the progress!

Hey Chris
This link may prove useful as well in as far as stiffening up the cab.

Well Chris......

In order for it to be real apealing it woul have to make far better than stock 951 power... otherwise why bother, just put back together as a nice round town 968 cab

however I have read enough of your posts to think that is already part of your plan. I am not real fond of the 968 cab look, but can't say I have spent enough time in one to give it a chance to grow on me either. Go for it !!

The 968 cab needs a wing on the trunk. Otherwise I like it.
