Default 86 oil pan baffle upgrade question

My oil pan will hopefully be coming off soon. I have seen on Lindseys site of a weld on upgrade. After searching here it seems this upgrade only helps left hand turns. It seems as though I have seen on here that I can also replace the existing 86 baffle with a later one which could haelp right handers. Is this true? Can the later baffle plug and play with no mods required to the oil pickup?

Is the later (89S) an upgrade to an 86 and why?

So the later baffle can be used in place of the 86 one with no mods to anything needed?

yes, but youll need to swap pans i think. I put the lindsay baffle in my 89 and it was very nice. It had the flapper door on one side, but also a couple other pieces and a ring that welds onto the oil pick up to keep it from pulling air in the sides of the pickup around tight cornering. Best thing to do is make sure your oil is always topped off or maybe .5qts over full during track events. I also used the paragon-products crank scraper, worked well but took alittle custom fitting to get it on there right.

the later pan has a different scraper cast into too. If you think it is worth it then go for a complete late set up, if not then just use the early. The early set up in conjunction with a crank scraper is cheaper than a later pan. If you need any other info on how scrapers work let me know - I am carrying the Ishihara-Johnson crank scrapers now and I believe in their function. whitechristopher@earthlink.net
