yeah it will look suspicious with different colors like you have crashed it and replaced one strut or something along those lines.

Ian was kind enough to not turn this into a bashing contest but let me say that he purchased the Bilsteins from us. I was out of town much of last week this just now came to my attention. Chuck did relay to me that we had some problems on a Bilstein order but I wasn't really sure of magnitude of the situation. First, as I mentioned to Ian in a private email, leaving out the camber plates was my fault as I originally entered in the order. We have several different options for this setup and the camber plates should have been listed as a break out item for the kit. I didn't catch it, my fault 100%.

With respect to the perch issue: This was due to a production change from Bilstein, the rear shocks did not come that way previously. Why they would produce a shock that has a 60mm perch on one end and 2.25” perch on the other is beyond me. The spring perch kit we supply for the front is now needed on the back as well…something we did not know until these units came along. I believe we sent the kit to you at no charge (which we should)…it is normally a $70 +/- kit.

Now as to the color, here's what I emailed Ian: Ian, every set we have received have been exactly the same way. Other customers have noticed that as well so I’ve ordered in multiple sets to see if it was a “one off” issue, and it is not. I did look at the production dates of some units we have and they were not that far off. My guess is that Bilstein has a supplier for the strut housings and that lefts and rights may not be ordered at the same time. The date the actual strut is assembled would be the issue more than when the housings were made. Every shock is dyno’ed before it leaves the plant so even if production dates were different, the performance of the shock should be the same. I will overnight in some more struts and let you know, but based off previous experience we will get one gold and one silver. You may also check the production dates that are stamped on the strut…It should appear as a 4 digit number.

In addition to discussing this with him tomorrow, I will post to the list what I find.

Thanks for listening.

The color thing is just plain weird to me. I would love to hear Bilstein's explanation of that one. Mine are both painted yellow.

Jason, thanks for the reply. I have also PM'd Skip about this so he can disregard the PM. I have no doubt that you are being truthful, I just don't understand why some guys have matching color struts and some guys have different ones. Please let us know what you find out. I PM'd Skip my cell # and I'm sure you have it on the order.

Ian

The Paragon guys, consistent with my experience, always step up as straight shooters.

Ditto on that statement.

I think it is fair to question two different colors on $2000 purchase and hopefully they can get them to match.

I would just like that setup....my wife would rather have a new refrigerator though.

Ok, here's the update. New set came in today and they're both silver...lol, what do I know. FYI, production dates vary from left to right by about 27 weeks. Who knows what we'll get next time but at least we can get Ian a matching color set.

I once ordered a 3" exhaust and told them I wanted the flowmaster with it, and I got the magnaflow, but my customer didn't care, so it wasn't a big deal, but I am sure an exchange would have been painless if we had needed to do so. With that being said, Dave lost a $3500 sale 2 weeks ago because he didn't return my email and answer a couple of questions about a turbo kit (It was real simple, answer a couple of questions, get a big check). That money is going to be headed to Vitesse instead.
I also have spent thousands at Lindsey and also never had any real problems, but I did have a very similar situation. I emailed Dave with some questions about a motor he built, asking for some camshaft recommendations and some data on the cylinder head. It would have been a pretty simple email but I didn't get any kind of reply. Milledge was happy to reply with a lot of useful data...and thats where my money is going.

I do think this has somehting to do with an increase in volume, because Dave used to be great about returning emails. They are a small shop with a lot of business so they are bound to have issues keeping up with email. My only gripe is this: I've spent in the neighborhood of $6000 with Dave. Dave didn't have time to reply to my question, which would have gained him more business, but he does have time to post to threads on his 944turbo.com bulletin board.

My satsifaction with the customer support has dropped a bit. But regardless, I'll still buy well engineered products from Lindsey.

I have a KONI yellow all around with bump stops and and clear boots as well new adjustable 968 sways and bushing. I bought it from paragon and love the way the car rides and drives.

I have always had good luck with Lindsey Always

John Miledge is the F&^king MAN! That guy wasted time talking with me too! I talked with Dave too he had a lot of infomation offer. I still have a lot to learn.

You'll notice the reply you got was forwarded to Jason from me. If you had a question about how many foot-pounds of torque to use on tail lights, that'd be me. Anything having to do with color-matching socks and struts goes directly to the boss.

Glad to hear it's working out, Ian.

Speaking of racing shoes, all in-stock Oakleys are 25% off! Updating the pricing now ...
