Default Opinions needed on leatherique colors.... (added new photoshop photo Please vote!)

I purchased some 993 seats from a fellow lister. They are cashmere in color. My '86 951 is linen/tan/camel? in color. Anyone have any opinions on changing the interior color of the car to cashmere via the leatherique or changing the 993 seats to tan/ original '86 color.

In addition, for those of you that have used leatherique, do anyone know what the color code is for both cashmere and linen/tan?

Thanks! Pics to follow!

I think the guards red with the cashmere color interior would look absolutely hot, however changing the rest of the car to look like the seats would be alot more work than changing the seats to match the existing interior.

All I would redye would be the door panels, center console, rear seats, and under the dash. The carpet would stay stock. Anyone done this before? Diffuculty?

I used that stuff, it looks ok at best. also be careful when you clean them later as it will come off if your not really carefull. I finally just bought some factory seat covers and am very happy now.

I used leatherique on my BMW's seats and it has held up very well - it looks great as well. Of course this was not a color change - just a re-dye so your results may vary.

I used SEM Colorcoat in Palamino on my door panels and it is a perfect match for cashmere/champagne. It really was pretty easy to do and has help up well. Let me know if you want any more specifics.

Oh, and I'm obviously a cashmere/champagne fan!

try surflex colorant from colorplus. They have some porsche colors in stock. One of them is Linen which is a dead match for my '86 951 interior. It's also a true leather dye that soaks into the pores of the leather, making it very durable.

Their conditioner, btw, is no joke and the most effective leather conditioner i've ever seen.

Remember if you change the interior color to cashmere you will need to replace the door handle, speaker covers, etc. because they are plastic. Maybe you can paint the plastic a matching color. I think cashmere door panels with black door handles and speaker cover my look good because it complements the upper half of the two tone interior.

Thanks for the info guys. Is color plus better than leatherique? The guy that owned the seats before me tried the surflex stuff and said it chaffed off on the bolster.

Gregeast,

I love your signature photos of your interior. Do you have any complete pics? Did you dye the rear seats as well? Thanks!

If the surflex flaked off, I think he applied it too thickly or didn't prep the surface well. I've had very good results with lots of cleanining prep, some light sanding, and 3-4 light coats. It takes a lot more time but it's been very resistant to wear so far.

I have lots of pics, PM me your email address and I'll send you some. I'm on vacation right now, won't be back until next week. Might be able to access my PC at home but you never now if it's going to work...

My seats were already champagne, although I did have the fronts repaired/redyed, so no need to dye the rears. Having said that I really don't think it would be that big of a deal, it's all about the preparation as others have said. I did do the door panels and it really turned out well and was easy to do.

PM me your email and I'll post more. Also, click on this link and go to Page 3 for pics off my leather dash cover install thread.

Greg east,

Your interior looks awesome! Thanks for the pics.

Anyone know how to do photoshop? I am curious to see what the 993 seats would look like in linen, and what my interior minus the carpet would look in cashmere. I have more photos in 2200 by 1700 if that helps.

Thanks....

Tried photoshop...

What do you guys think? Please vote above in the poll. Either dye interior pieces cashmere or dye 993 seats linen.

Any comments appreciated!

If you could get the carpet to match, that would be one nice looking interiors. Do they sell replacement carpet in that color?
