Stay away from the Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator.. We have seen many fail, one reason we no longer sell them. Your chip supplier will recommend a set fuel pressure to match the code (we use the 3bar).

a few people have stepped up to a 1 bar spring, i'm about to do this. Like others my boost is getting a little wavy, only notice it in 5th gear but above 220km/h its distracting. Might just be a little leak too, but quite a few people have mentioned this issue with the weaker 0.8 bar spring and manual boost control.

Just curious, but since boost bleeding off at high RPM's was mentioned, what boost pressure should you see with the K26/6 at 6000RPM?
Mine is bleeding off to 4-5psi, which seems awfully low. Wastegate is already shimmed, stock chips & CV, and intake manifold is sealed up nicely, no audible leaks when pressurized.

Thanks again everyone for your input and recommendations. Based on my research and your feedback I have decided to go with the following:

Tial 38mm wastegate
Vitesse AFM Chip
3 bar fuel pressure regulator
Lindsey Racing Manual Boost Controller
3" Exhaust with cat bypass - Will try to fabricate locally otherwise I like the Fabspeed jobs

Have I forgotten anything? Should I be considering induction mods with this package? Please feel free to chip in if you think I am on the wrong track here!

Cheers,

Simon.

My .02 here, you might consider the Lindsey wastegates (either dual port or clubgate would work fine for you). They are a direct bolt on to the factory exhaust, work very well and are in the same ballpark, costwise. Skip the 3" exhaust unloess you are planning to go for a bigger turbo late, but even then, there are folks running 400hp with the stock 2.5" exhaust and cat bypass, so I doubt its the weakest link in the system.

I like Dave and Mike Lindsey and have never been treated badly by them, and I have a lot of Lindsey parts on my 951, but my money goes to Vitesse for chips, turbo, MAF, etc. Vitesse parts and service are the best you will find, and Vitesse is also a Rennlist sponsor.

Having said all that, I was impressed with DanP's car on the dyno at 944Fest, running the Lindsey Turbo and MAF. Of course, he did dump a gallon of Xylene in the tank and cranked the boost to 22psi. lol

I have been thinking about doing some of the same things.

My car was chipped about 10 years ago, and I think I wan't to move to some newer technology, ala Vitesse chips, lindsey DPWG, 3-bar FPR, and either the lindsey or the SFR MBC.

The MBC is the only place I can't decide on.

I had a tial in my last 951, it worked fine, but it did not use the factory mounts. It kept getting loose. My money will definitely buy the lindsey dp wg. It is a performance rebuild of the factory unit.
add a mbc
vitesse chips
3bar fpr
+ lots of fun at 15psi

I have the Lindsey dualport wasteagate as well and it works great. I had an extra wastgate so the whole core deposit was a moot point for me. Dave Lindsey has always been helpful and my experience with them as a customer has been first class.

Are you talking about these that LR and several other retailers sell?: Link

The Bosch 3bar FPR's are plug and play, plus most 951 chip tuners are tuning with the 3bar in mind. The only reason you might want an adjustable FPR is if you are doing some sort of custom turbo and custom tuning in which you might want to run a different fuel pressure for various reasons.

Tial wastegates use far superior materials then the stock WG or some other aftermarket ones. They are much more resistant to corrosion, and there really isn't anything on them that will rust so think of a Tial as a good long term investment that you will most likely never have to replace again.

Someone posted some dyno proof between a 3" and 2.5" exhaust on a stock k26 (think it was a /6) 951 and the gains from the 3" were minimal much to my surprise. You'll see the biggest gain from a eliminating the cat. You might think about having someone cut the stock cat out and weld in a straight pipe, as it will save a good amount of money and give you 90+% of the power gain. Our stock k26's are just too small to really need a bigger exhaust. The money you save might add up to enough that you could do a Vitesse maf setup instead.

My set up is pretty close to this, vitesse chip ,LRDP,3 bar fpr, the 3'' exhaust with 'hi flow cat'made a lot of difference, a lot more torque, much better.

Karl at Imagine Auto did the dyno (and posted the chart) for the before and after on the 3" exhaust install. The biggest advantage of going with the 3" exhaust is weight savings, in my opinion, altho I do like the way it sounds. If I were doing it again, I'd probably save the $750 and stick with a cat bypass. I don't think it hurts anything, but I have doubts now that it helps much, even after installing the Vitesse Stage II turbo on my car.

Where I am cat bypass is not an option, and yes the value is not that great but it is simple and it definitely helps, I had to bring my ebc back quite a bit.
Dyno charts like this(not mine) seem to show a pretty worthwhile benefit ymmv..
