I say go for it. Chips and the shims will give you a nice boost that you will definately feel. I haven't tried the LR chips, but AFM chips are very similar these days.

i have a guru v8 chip for 18psi but i only have the DME chip as i had to get a k27 from guru a while ago.if its possible to just run the DME chip ill give em a great deal.

My comment about replacing the wastegate was of course meant in conjunction with chips which is the first upgrade most people consider. That being said, even running a new wastegate (which has a stiffer spring) will probably improve boost with stock chips. If you are going to spend the time and energy to remove the wastegate with the intention of installing shims, you might as well just replace it with a dual port rather than have to remove it again when you finally realize its the right decision

Special Tool once said something along the lines of

"If you change the wastegate on a 951 and change the software, you have a car that dances with the 911's of the same year, and also dances with its wife too"

I can add a few things, first being that Lindsey is a very busy but good supplier. I tend to get most of my special hardware and little stuff from them.

To save the most money and get the best bang per buck, I would get

1. Vitesse chips
2. Tial 38 wastegate from SFR or Myswiss
3. Lindsey Accuboost controller or some other manual one
4. Lindsey adj fuel pressure reg
5. and finally a 3'' exhaust from Lindsey (cheap) or Speedforce Racing (nicer)

Just my seldom heard 2 cents....

Thanks Josh and everyone else for the feedback. I guess the appeal of the Lindsey chips is the nice little kit they offer but there really is no good reason not to source compnents individually, I just need to know what the best stuff to get is! A wastegate is definately something I was going to change, just down the track a little, however now I am beginning to think it should be one of my first upgrades.

Everyone seems to love the Tials but my understanding is that the Tial 38mm is not a direct bolt on replacement? So what needs to be done to make them fit?

Simon.

they are not bolt ons unless they have the adapter plates. Most of our vendors like Myswiss and Speedforce sell the wastegates with the adaptor plates already so they will bolt right up. If you are going to be doing the install please don't install the wastegate backwards. There are tons of threads of pics and how to replace your wastegate just do a search ahead of time or just start another thread.

I have heard a lot lately that Adj. FPR is not really much benifit. Did you notice or see that it helped the performance/tuning of your car?

Well, my car already had an AFR on it so I just went with that. If I was starting from scratch it would probably be easier and more reliable to just get a 3 bar.

The Tial 38 from either SFR or Myswiss comes with the adapters and if you have a sturdy hammer to remove the old it's easy to install. It may take some time wiggling it into the right position though. If your patient you can even bolt it up to the stock wastegate hanger, contrary to some people.

But yeah, I would definately source different parts from different venders, as each on has it's specialty. Lindsey has incredible shipping, it takes like two days to get here, and no one can respond to emails as quick as Vitesse....

Thanks, one more question if you don't mind? What release pressure spring should I be getting?

.25 bar ( 3.63 psi)-- 0.4 bar (5.80 psi)-- 0.5 bar (7.25 psi)-- 0.6 bar (8.70 psi)-- 0.7 bar (10.15 psi)-- 0.8 bar (11.60 psi)-- 1.0 bar (14.5 psi)???
