Hmmm, I'm going out again tonight. I was cruising at 60mph and hit it to 100. Isn't that the way to do it? If it's not, let me know and what were looking for as far as what speed to what speed and I'll do it again tonight.

How about using a camera and film the speedo from low speed under full acceleration until top speed?

The original idea was to cruise at 60 and punch it until 130. Granted not too many people have access to a track or want to go to jial...

What i was trying to gauge is how quick our cars are from cruise speed to WOT until said speed. After all everyone always talks about 1/4 mile and such but our cars were designed for this type of test, the high speed stuff. Just trying to find the EXTRA sweet spot concerning MPH.

Good to see this thread develop here as well, there are several sick fast 951s around. The only ride I have taken in a 944Turbo is in a Rennlister's beast (Konstantin) on the autobahn in Germany, and the ride was breathtaking.

As Pole Position mentioned, one of the best ways to measure a good 60-130mph run is with a datalogger/GPS device, we have seen severe errors in numbers with accelerometers alone due to tilt factors etc...
As for speedos and stopwatch, all the parties that measured both ways, with speedo and then AX22 saw a difference of at least 1 second ( the stopwatch+video+speedo being optimistic). This is no general rule of course but a good indication.

60-100mph in a tick or two over 5 seconds. Third gear.

80-130mph in eight flat. fourth gear.

100-150 in 17 flat. fifth gear.
Based on what was posted above, and compared with the data that I have from some other runs with a 993TT, here are some comparisons..

60-100mph in 5.2 s is about 11.7 seconds 60-130mph
As for the 100-150mph in 17 s.. a 993TT running 7.7 s in 60-130mph does the 100-150mph in 8.65 seconds.
Running at 1 Bar and with this heat, those are some very decent times. I expect your 60-130mph to be around 10 seconds at 1.3 Bar or so.

OK, I'm going out again tonight. I'll see if I can bring a camera with some video clip capablilty on it and I'll do a run. Cruise at 60mph, punch it and go to 130mph. Anything else let me know before I hit the road tonight...

Jean, thanks but my car feels pretty slow. maybe it is the heat...

Dfast,
See if you can do a run from 20-30mph. I think that is how most people are doing it.

Got a few video clips. They're not very good at all. The timed runs were done in the dark as I forgot to hit the flash while recording. So, if you want to see them, somone send me an email address so I can send them to you and you can post them up...

Sent vids to the edge. Vids two and five won't send from my email. Says my email exceeds the size limit. Don't know what else to do. Last two were in the dark. Forgot the flash on the camera. I had to do it over cause I accidentally over revved in third and forgot to shift. The last one was from 60mph but I went all the way to 150 as I couldn't stop at 130. I think I was shifting or something.
