Getting a 951
I have been seriously thinking about selling the 83 944 and getting a turbo. Its low miles so ill get a good profit, i just need that extra push. Could i get a good shape 951 for under 8k? What are the most comman problems like timing belts?
plus if anyone knows of one in or around NC please say so.

yes you can get a nice 951 for under $8k, It will take some searching adn barganing to get a low milage 951 (in great condition) for under $8k though.
From what i have heard, the LSD was a not-so-common option in the 951. Good luck finding one with lsd.

I think it unrealistic to get even a medium mileage 951 for 8K, unless it needs maintenance.
I "stole" my 951 w 80K miles - needing some tlc. +5K later I have a nice car, but I also have literally hundreds of hours of rubbing, detailing, repairing, etc.
If 8K is you top dollar I suspect you won't have the $ needed for maint and upkeep.
Don't mean to discourage - but you will regret if you jump on a 951 kust because price is right
ADD: However put another 2500 with it, and you can have you choice of a number of decent 951s in all mileage ranges

well, its true 8k would not get me too clean or great of a show quality 951 but thats not what i would want. Im looking into a project, something to build to a track car so interior would not matter since i would lose it. Im having a hard time making up my mind but thankyou for all of your posts. If i make the switch i will look to fellow rennlister's first.
