Default Anyone have a short shifter they would like to sell me?

Apparently no one stocks a new one, so I'm looking for a used one.

TIA

Good luck. If you can find an autothority or weltmeister (old stock) shifter, they are very good. I am not a fan of the schnell shifter, the throws aren't equal on the cars I have driven (IE, neutral to 1st is short, but neutral to 2nd is longer, as is 4th). Feels wierd when shifting, especially after you have used the autothority/weltmeister.

Thanks for the input Doc. Ian at 944Online has the Welt. shifter. He also said that he stopped selling the Schnell because of fitment issues. Of the 6 places that I called to get the Schnell unit they were out of stock and were waiting on a new shippment from Schnell. I'm wondering if they didn't have a bad batch and had to redo the shifter and that's the reason for the wait. Anyone else have any problems with the Schnell?

I'll probably just order the Welt. but didn't want to spend that much on one.

When I changed my stock shifter/boot to a Momo shifter, I just used a grinder to cut it down. Took like 2 min., super easy and now have short throw shifter.

Todd, we are talking about the kind that mounts to the tranny. I've used your method before and it just didn't give the feel for a true short shifter for me.

As stupid as it sounds you have only made the shift shorter by shortening the shift, er shaft that is, rather than adjusting the linkage. Try emailing Jon or Mark at the address below. They have two kits available. One for street and one for race. I have the street one and it tightens up the sloppiness of the stock shift. I am updating to the race shift which is meant to be a lot shorter. I'll report back. jon@9xx.co.uk

I have one I just pulled off of my 83 tranny yesterday in the 95 degree heat. You can have it for $250 plus installation.

I have had no problems with my Schnell SS. the only thing I would like is for it to be a little bit shorter and I think the Welt would probably do that. Don't get me wrong the Schnell is a huge improvement over stock.

Do you have it on your na or turbo car?

I like the price of the Schnell better at almost $100 cheaper.

There is website but is only really a front page. There's no info on their products but they do seem to sell quality items it's just a matter of getting in touch with them. They are developing MAF's, turbos, intercoolers etc so worth contacting.
