That thing is sick! Do race cars really need 18 quarts of oil in them!?

I have a buddy that has a E34 M5 that he is going to super charge.

He was hoping to run 5-6 psi and shoot for about 500hp, but then I show him cars like this and it keeps raising the bar of his expectaitons

I'm sure there must be a few 911 variants, but I've never heard of any 4cyl or even 8cyl P-car push past 700hp. Bob Devore did 7xx on a N/A 928 many years ago, but then nobody has beaten that or come close, even with forced induction...
And looking at the size of the turbo on that M5 and then the one in my garage, I'm definitely using it on my 951! Its a smaller turbo, and whenever I get extra cash and extra time, I'm just going to fab up a custom intake (no choice with that big ****) and a few other necessary pieces and see what numbers I get.

They say 'its all in the tuning', but the 700+ hp 928 was back in the day when we didn't have stand-alone management like we do today... This crap makes my brain hurt, I need a beer :^).

Well, without really increasing the 951 displacement, yo uare left with running 25+ psi to see really big numbers. And you hear too many times in here "YOUR GONNA BLOW YOUR HEADGASKET IF YOU RUN MORE THAN 15PSI...18PSI....20PSI......"

So the bar keeps getting raised to the point of people realizing boost alone does not blow HG or motors, it is improper tuning that blows from the heat/knock that comes about from bad tuning.

Turn up the boost, add fuel, check EGT's. Repeat as needed and rinse

I think ST is in that range of boost on his 2.5 that was at 600hp.

BMWAndrea's car, I've chatted with him a few times about the S38B36 I have sitting on an engine stand in my garage. Seems like a nice guy, with an insane car!

Funny as it was banned from PCA because it dominated GT1R. Sounds like you're full of **** to me.

Scott Gomes, of Under Pressure Performance, has made 1076 hp on an engine dyno with a 3.0L 16v running 36psi. Difference between this and say a supra is what it took to do it and how not streetable it is, Scott builds race cars.
