Some of the old E34 rear differentials are supposed to be really strong but he's using a Borg-Warner (Camaro, Viper etc) transmission with custom drive shaft and axles.

I have some friends with RX7 2nd Gen (FC) LSx swaps. They are pretty awesome, but the RX7 is a pretty ugly car. I have always liked the E30 look in M3 and non-M3 versions.
I would probably top out around 450whp with the LS motor.

I have a friend who has an LS6 in a BMW 320. He did all the work himself and it looks very professional. He actually makes a kit for you to do it including a rear subframe. I believe he is using the stock GM transmission and an M5 differential. I can get more information if you like.
