My buddy Marcel runs HPA - we went to high school together and were into VW's. He got into painting and modding VW's after high school. His business really exploaded when he started putting the VR6 engine into the Bettle.

He's in tight with VW. He gets rolling AWD 4 motion chasis' off the production line for his projects. I don't know what he does now or if VW is selling the GTI with AWD, but about 5 years ago he was buying new cars and transfering the body over to the 4motion undercarriage. After he did the VR6 transplant, VW invited him to take his VR6 Bug to Germany and soon after he hit SEMA. He's really done well since then.

I've gone for a ride in one of his single turbo VR6 Bugs and was surprised. Then I went for a ride in his hard top Viper and nearly dropped a turd in my pants. He says his TT Bug is faster. I imagine this GTI is pretty fast.

In BC, VW's are very popular and there are a bunch of tuners up there that make them fast. I don't see hardly any modded VW's here in AZ.
