Anyone ever changed a Turbo oil seal?
Is it difficult? Place to source the gaskets? Could it be done without removing the turbo? Just the coldside while it sits on the mount? I have no clue here, never taken a turbo apart before. TIA

I have on non Porsche turbo... was nothing extra special once access to seal is gained.
sorry never been inside 951 turbo..... yet
actually a bit more info... usually is seal is smoked it is because bushing/bearing is loose... I expect without doing it all you would end up with a leaking turbo again in short order

I was working w garrett turbos. I was able to obtain parts from a local diesel specialist shop that rebuilds mostly big diesel stuff. As I recall I had to wait a week or so for parts however. You may want to check your local diesel rebuilders to see if they can get you a kit or parts....... only suggestion I have

You might try contacting amzi951 (https://rennlist.com/forums/members/23237-azmi951.html) I believe he just finished rebuilding his stock turbo himself.

Even though the break-in is really important or the start-up once installed, check out it's not oil from the crank breather before going into this.
I thought my SFR turbo was bad and it's oil coming in from the breather hose.
I recently installed a breather can. My hard pipes were full of oil when I take them out.

Not necessarily a bad blow by, remember that the lower part of the pistons and the crank itself inside the crankcase act also as some sort of air pump. That's the whole purpose of the crank breater hose, if not, you'll burst all the crank gaskets/seals and oil leaks everywhere.
Good luck
