Master Cylinder exhaust shield removal- a new beam of light?
I was (for the 4th or 5th time) reinstalling the master cylinder exhaust heat shield in agony, as usual. I was browsing through clark's garage shop manual a minute ago and saw that he includes "remove the turbocharger coolant pump" as one of the steps, which is something I've actually never even done.
I don't thread the top bolt on the metal fender well at the front of the shield because a freakin' wire harness is in the way and it's strapped down with 20-year-old zip ties that look either a chunk of money or ingenuity would be required to replace. So the harness is more an issue than the pump, and I can't really see how removing the pump would make this much easier.
So I guess I'm asking if anyone has some crafty ways to make the removal and installation of this item much easier, as it's currently the most brute force part of work like turbocharger removal, which is saying a lot.
