I am about to change timing and balance belts myself. However, i have a few questions first.
-Should I go ahead and by the water pump and a seal kit while i'm in there, and if so there is one on 944online.com for $545, is this high
-any idea where i can get a belt tensioning tool, and possibly a flywheel lock for cheap
-if i do change the water pump too, is rebuilt okay or is it not worth it. You save about $100 on the 944online.com kit if you by rebuilt.
THANKS, also any speacial tips on how not to destroy anything important are always welcome

What year is the car?
Im asking because of the spring tensioner mechanism, you could get some real nifty tools from bruce (http://www.arnnworx.com/), he has the flywheel lock, tensioner, wrench etc.
Ian's price is actually good, for a new pump, seals etc, however, it does not include the steel spacers but the t-stat is in there. Add the hardware kit, those bolts/nuts are prone to corrosion and breaking, and get a NEW pump, the $100 core would put you in the $15-$25 cheaper than a brand new one.
