Default Oil pressure problem

Hey guys, quick question. Ok, when driving around town my oil pressure guage usually read up close to 5, but today when I was driving around it was at 4 and at idle it dropped down to 2...I have a leaky oil pan gasket but its not that severe, and I check my fluid levels every weekend religiously so I know I'm not low on oil...what else could be the culprit? bad oil pressure sending unit? where's that at? any advice would be great, thanks!

Hot weather can do that... is it hotter than normal today?

Oil pressure sender is down under the filter -- but they usually work right or don't work at all.

Your oil pressure relief valve -- in the same area -- might be sticky.

On hottt *** days its normal for the cars oil pressure to sit right at 2. If its not a hot *** day, and it still sits around 2, then your car probally has AIDS like my car.

Could your oil pressure sender, or oil pressure relief valve leak? would they be malfunctioning if they were leaking? My oil pressure is fine, but there is an oil leak coming from around that area, near the oil filter.

Thanks guys, It's just never done that before so I didn't really know if it was ok or not. Today wasn't much hotter than usual, about 110 I think, but don't hold me to it. I'll just keep monitoring it. Thanks!
