Default Vitesse Stage II Installation - Part ID

As many may already know, John at Vitesse is gone for the month, so I'm turning to you guys...

There is a part that was included with the MAF that the instructions don't address. It looks like some sort of resistor, but I dunno. Can anyone that's done this install ID it for me and where it should go? Sorry, for the link, I'm still in the rennlist membership process.

Part

One more thing. John said I need a switched power source. Any suggestions? He told me but I've forgotten

Those are for the injector power wires. Wire them inline like a fuse. IIRC Pin 23 in the fuse box is switched power, but I'd check it before going and just plugging into it. I'm going off memory here on that one.

For switched power the Red/Yellow wire from the DME harness is a good source. From looking at the picture it looks like those are a set of ballast resistors for the injectors. They are installed on wire 14 (Gray) for injectors 3 & 4 and wire 15 (Gray/Black) for injectors 1 & 2. It is helpful to mount them on a large heat sink to dissipate any heat that is created by them. I used some alum plate that I got from metalsdepot.

For what it's worth, I mounted them with heat transfer goo inside a little project box and made a bypass plug for those days when stock injectors are needed.

They go in-line by the way, on DME 14 and 15 -- as if they were in-line fueses.

Didn't you get a CD with all the stuff from John? EVERYTHING is in detail on the CD.

Ah yes the CD. Injector Install.doc to be exact. He emailed a lot of stuff so I figured everything was in attachments and completely forgot about the CD. I'm gonna go hide now. Sorry guys.

Ok, now I've got a problem. Put simply, I'm getting a "snap, crackle, pop" from the injector harnesses/wires. This only happens when I use the aftermarket chip. I've checked the following using a jumper wire between terms 30 and 87 on the DME relay.

- Resistance between +/- injector wires at the plug (engine side) is zero when DME is unplugged and inition off. i.e. no shorts between wires
- Resistance between injectors is within spec. From memory it was somewhere around 1.x - 2.x.
- Unplugged negative wire (green) from the ignition coil during all tests
- Voltage is 12v on positive side when using stock chip

How I narrowed it down to the injector wires is when they were unplugged the snapping was a different tone. Deeper sounding.

That said. What could be causing the "snap" condition? Some sort of arcing? Positive going up both sides of the injector wire? For example DME is hosed and "firing" positive down the negative wire (14 & 15). I didn't install the ballasts yet, but I don't see why that would matter. What now?
