I'm in the process of changing the fuel rail on my car and I decided to refresh a few engine parts. However, I did not want to remove the cam cover. So I fabricated this "lazy man" painting booth:



Here's a close-up of the cam cover:



I also painted the intake manifold and throttle body a nice "bling-bling" like shiny aluminium cover using "Krylon" gas barbecue and radiator paint:





Here's the partial result after removing all that newspaper out of the way:

How did you do the letters?

 

I spray painted the whole cam cover including the letters. Then after the paint had thoroughly dried, I sanded down the letters using a hand-held sander. Started with 80 grit and worked up to 220. Finished it off with hand sanding with wet 600 grit paper. Then I clear-coated the whole thing.

When I had the Cam Gear cover off to do the belts I bead blasted the cover then clear coated it with some high heat manifold/engine paint. Looks pretty good, the bead blast removed twenty years of oxydation, I hope the paint holds up, I haven't tried any solvents on it yet...

 

Not yet. I'm waiting on some replacement connectors for the ISV and the speed and reference sensors. Plus, I only have a few hours on the weekends to work on the car. So, unfortunately, it now lives on four jackstands. . Don't worry guys, I'll post pictures when it's done (hopefully before the end of June). On the plus side, I may use that extra time to clean up some more areas in the engine bay.

 

yes, good, high temp paint looks a lot better then burnt oil and rust

I did a lot of painting to my engine bay area. Flat black goes a long way on looks for the bad spots.
