Default Simplifying space under Intake Manifold

What is all the tubing under the intake manifold used for?
I simply don't understand why much of it is there. Does anyone have a good diagram/explanation of the plumbing under the intake manifold on our cars?
What can be removed or deleted?

<and ending with a rant...>
Removing a partially stripped M6 bolt for the intake manifold took me almost two days... some idiot used a bolt that already appeared to have been "worked" out with an oversized 12pt. Tapping, PB, cutting and the impact driver you hit with a hammer *finally* worked in loose.

Gah!
