take the cluster out and clean the contacts and reinstall it. be carefull not to break the ears off of the connectors when you piull them off. One of the connections may be loose already.

I have that same prob, intermittently. All the gauges will just like shut off. And then they will just come back on at random. Often the wont come on when starting or turning the key. But sometimes they will. It's just so wierd. Also, the brake lights are non-op at the same time. They work when the guages work, and visa-versa. Do they have a common ground? (no pun intended) Cleaned the rear grounds near the lights under the hatch, and also checked the grounds abouve the clutch pedal. Still intermittent. Guess the bell housing grounds are the next thing to check?

replace the terminal 15 relay in the fuse box [first row, second relay, between the a/c blower relay and the rear defroster/fuse tester relay]. if you don't have a spare [141 951 253 B] laying around, you can pull either the foglight relay [third row, first relay] or the horn relay [third row, third relay] to test your t15 relay to determine whether or not it is the cause of your intermittent failure.

Right on Mel! To test I actually swapped the G12 relay (between those two you mentioned, as it was the same part number.) And it worked! Had my gauges and brake lights back! The G12 relay said it was for complimentary driving lights? Anyway, that did the trick! Hope it works for you also pipehoon!!
