Default Road trip emergency kit

Flying out to INdy to pick up my new 86 951 and drive it back to denver. It is a 1,000 mile drive that I plan to split in two days.

Besides making sure I have a charged cell phone, jack and a spare tire that inflates. What else would you guys bring? Within reason -

Stop by somewhere for a fresh oil change. Sounds good to me.

spare DME relay(controls fuel and powers certian items). Pull on few vac lines before heading off to see if they're all snug.

All the maintenance is up to date on the car? I would describe your route back to Denver and see if any listers are close if needed. If the maintenace is up to date, I wouldn't worry about it if it's nice shape. I did Vegas to Heber Springs AR in 99 in 18.34 hours without a glitch except for snow in Flagstaff AZ . 68k from original owner, maintenance and records up to date.

AAA deluxe membership or some similar type of road service.

That's probably the best advice.

I'd toss in a can of "fix-a-flat", a gallon of water, gallon of gas, flashlight, jumper cables or a battery booster, socket set, spare fuses, a few jumper wires, screw drivers, vice grips, roll of duct tape or two, fire extinguisher, electrical tape, 4-post lift...

I would bring with me the items listed below:
Gallon Water
Oil
Light
Jumper Cables
one of those kits that have screw drivers, plyiers, socket set, etc.
Cell phone with charger
Maps for the whole trip or better yet GPS or computer that has a map program (in case you get lost)
Duck tape
Good spare tire with pump
Breaker bar so if you have to change a tire
Good Jack
Cash (because in a pinch, cash talks better then credit)
Spare fuses including DME (almost a must for EVERY 944 owner)
and CD's for the ride

Those are what I can think of off the top of my head. If you are flying out there to pick it up, you can pick up many of these things at a local shop (Autozone, etc.) but make sure you get a DME relay before you go.

The DME! I knew I'd forgot something super important.

Water and fuel solid advice.

The car is up to date on all service. All new vacuum lines.

Too bad the drive back is mind-numbingly boring. I'm sure there are some nice roads nearby I70 but I won't have the time to explore them.

Aw, come no, no trip in a 944 Turbo is completely mind numbingly boring!
