Default Cup 17's Part No?

Should authentic Porsche rims have a part no stamped on them?

http://www.vwdov.ca/forum/showthread...098#post985098

Thanks.

I have owned both Milli Miglia copies and real Cup 1 rims. My Porsche cup 1 rims have a part number (begining in 965) on them while the milla miglias do not. I am traveling at the moment so I can't walk out the garage and check for you but from my experience the real Porsche rims do have a part number on them.

Are these the numbers???

965.362.124.01 for 17x7J ET 55

965.362.128.00 for 17x9J ET 55

965.362.126.01 for 17x8J ET 52

and if so what is the best choice for a Stock 87 951? Staggered/not staggered.

Thanks

Jason

So now I'm confused...

http://www.millemigliawheels.it/uk/type_cup1.html

What the heck does "Under Porsche Licence" mean exactly??? Are these the supplier OEM for Porsche? Or we allowed to make copies that look like the Porsche OEM???

Basically, the Mille Miglia version are made of a heavier alloy than the factory spec wheels. Both versions, however, are made at the same foundry in Italy.

I have a set of factory wheels on my 951 and, yes, they are stamped with the aforementioned factory part numbers that start with extension 965.

These wheels were optional M030 equipment on the 968 and came standard on the 928 GTS.

I could be wrong about this but the "under Porsche license" means that they can look like the Cup 1s. My Milla miglias bent fairly easily where as the Porsche rims seem to have held up much longer. I do not believe the Milla Miglias are as good. I could be wrong but the milla Miglias are also heavier and if I am not mistaken cast.

if those wheels don't have a part no, then they're not genuine. also, he says that they say 17x7.5 on them - IIRC, only the cup1 replicas from MM came in a 7.5 width - OEM was 7, 8, 9. 'normal' (though not necessarily best) setup would be 8 (or maybe 7) front and 9 rear. i know some ppl rave about having 9s all around.

in any case, he's got 4x7.5 so you wouldn't want that anyway .

That's what I told him...

When the time comes I think it will be 8's in front and 9's in the rear...

Original Cup Ones DID come as 7.5's as well as 7's; they could also be 9.5s. I have 7.5s and 9's on mine from a 964 Turbo. Both Mille Miglia and the original wheels are cast; Mille Miglia made the original wheels for Porsche. The 'copies' are heavier. The easiest way to identify if the wheels are original is that the genuine items have the width and off-set stamped on either side of the valve stem hole; the copies do not.

Hope that helps.

PS you can also get magnesium Cup Ones from the 964 RS, but they are rare as hens teeth and horribly expensive.
