In replacing the front wheel bearings on my '87 951, the new seals are different and have a 'lip' on one side - are these correct and should it be mounted toward or away from the hub? (see attached pix).

Pretty certain that it's lip outside.

Thanks- that's what I was thinking but there was some discussion amoungst my garage crew (brother/dad) :P

Yes, outside. The spindle tapers down so if you put it on the inside, it won't contact and seal against the spindle.
