Buy quaife diff.
Drop car and diff off at respected Porsche shop.
Pick up car with quaife installed and write shop a check.
Seriously, unless you're very famaliar with taking apart and reassembling transmissions and rear diffs, I'd leave this one to the pros.

buying a used 89 unit would be cheaper. You racing? If you have tranny experience and tools, shop manuals, you can probably do it, but it's one thing I leave to the pros too.

A trusted shop owner told me it would be as much as the unit or a few $$ more because of the "while you're in there components". I haven't a clue.

Not including the R&R of the trany, I would say it took a total of 4 hours but I had to order shims from the dealer twice so the entire process took weeks. Read the manual, it has detailed instructons on how to setup for the initial measurements and then calculate the correct shim thickness. I did replace the bearings and seals while I was in there.
The second car I did this to, I did as Ski suggested, pulled the trany and took it to a shop.

Since most of the work that must be done to install an LSD is what you'd have to do to rebuild, most people rebuild it while they're doing this.
So the avg cost I've seen is ~$1200 for the rebuild/install.

10 years ago I put a Quaife in my 944TS. I delivered the tranny and the Quaife to my local shop (trusted) since they had a tranny guy who knew what he was doing. $600 later he was done. Getting the shims right seems to be time consuming and slow work, but it has to be done right. I've never had any problems as a result of his work, but to be honest, I can't tell the difference between the Quaife and my old LSD. Maybe I'm just not a good enough driver.

My local exotic car shop (not many porsche shops in El Paso) charged me $150 but I had the tranny out so all he did was crack it open on his bench, install the LSD and bolted it back together. still took him 7 days!!!!!!
