Default New daily driver that gets me to work and home much faster than my 951-S ever could

I picked up a daily driver last night...2006 Honda Civic Hybrid...it has like 110 HP from a 1.3L and electrically assisted rear wheels....oooohhh....ahhhh...

I never used my 951-S to drive to work and back but this Hybrid can do this task probably 45 minutes faster than Porsche....cuz I can get on HOV (car pool lanes)!!!

Anyways, when I was at the Honda dealer, I had 4 people come up and admire the 951 with comments like "it's beautiful", "very nice". One asked if it costed alot to restore...of course, no restoration to speak of. It does kinda upsets me that the Honda is more expensive than my 951....Oh well.

PS: Does anyone know where to get a plate holder that says "My Other Car Is A Porsche" ? Thanks.

As gasoline prices drift perpetually upwards, we will be seeing more and more of these. I know people that are buying tiny cars and letting their gas hogs sit in the driveway for weekends.

Yeah, thinking about custom plates that read "Sipper". Anyone know where I can get a license plate frame that I want? Did a search but couldn't find anything. Right or wrong, driving around in a Civic is a bit embarrassing.....

i take it you're now the driver in a carpool for the hov lane.

i'd rather travel alone, more flexibility if anythng comes up before/after work.

Some states (California for example) will allow hybrids & electrics in the HOV lane.
They should call it an HEV lane. And allow entry based on fuel economy and the number of passengers.
When I drove my 38mpg Toyota Corolla, I always did think it was lame that two people in a 8mpg humvee (16 person-miles per gallon) got to ride in the HOV lane, but I didn't.

In some parts of California (Orange County for example), the HOV lane has become so congested that there is very little time-advantage. We still need to address the fundamental problem at hand: too many people with too much distance to cover.

HOV lanes were declared invalid in NJ when someone sued the state. Something to do with the taxpayer dollars paying for all the highway so one lane can't be reserved for a special few drivers. This ruling and mandatory full service gas stations are perhaps the only good things about driving in NJ.

The governor recently extended the HOV expemption for hybrids...and with a baby to pick up at day care, I need to be able to get near home quick....DC traffic sux....I contemplated selling my 951 a while back with a 4 door for my baby but decided to go this route....

So, where can I get that license frame?!?

Go to any flea market. You can have anything you want put on them cheap.
BMW will offer hydrogen powered 7 series cars by 2010. I'm in as I already have the V12 750 with 212,000 miles and going strong.

Well, 07 Camary hybrid might have been less embarassing, or you could have gotten the Lexus RX450 h. Either way, hondas are great cars.

the lexus suv hybrid gets the same fuel economy as the non-hybrid, just has more power. the camry might be interesting though, haven't seen any numbers on that yet.

Ha Ha!! you guys are funny...Type-H!!.....No coffee cans here...although I have to admit, the civic hybrids wheels are ugly as sin....I might have to replace those.

Oh, and as to those other hybrids, they are pretty expensive...I basically went the cheapest route possible. I already have a beater and an SUV along with my 951 and didnt need a large car. Besides, as it was mentioned by AG, you never know when HOV exemptions are going to be MPG based....

dfastest, thanks for the tip....looks like I will have to get one customized...
