Default LR MAF TRAP + NACA Headlight Duct - Thanks For Posting Pic Goes 2 TheEdge

Drilled Holes In Back Of Headlight Structure

Better View of Air Holes

View From The Top

These drilled holes make the NACA Headlight duct effective. After drilling the holes - the AFR on fuel curve went immediately lean (low -mid 14s) during a test drive. Prior to drilling the holes - the AFR was well with the safe range (low - mid 12s). In my opinion, this confirms that the LR duct works as advertised, after drilling holes into headlight housing itself. The housing is made out of hard plastic - so drilling is not really difficult.

The LR MAF was another story. It was not a good fit. For fitment, I had to cut a nice size piece of it off. My experience with LR fiberglass pieces (MAF + Headlight duct) - less than ideal fitment. My shop was not crazy about the fitment of the LR Super 48 turbo that they installed - but that's another story. At the end of the day, the LR pieces do WORK as advertised - u just have to make some modifications to make them fit your 951, as advertised.

Is that a pump for methanol injection in between the two I/C pipes?

I think that's the catch can he's talking about. It would work better in a vertical mount though.

You are correct - It has been adjusted more vertically. It's catching quite a bit of oil mist.

These cone filters are a twin edged sword. Sure you may get better air flow although there is plenty of evidence to suggest that this is be questionable, but if you do any trackwork or even driving in areas prone to dust/sand etc there is a real danger of grit getting into the turbo and stuffing the blades. My friend 'Thingo' had a 720 degree spin and wound up quite deep in the sand runoff last Sunday. When I drove past I couldn't even tell if he was in the car so much was it covered by dust/sand. When he got back to the pits there was sand through everything inside and out and our mechanics including JET951 remarked how lucky he didn't have a cone filter as he would have for sure got sand into and through the filter.
