Cheap Tire Recommendations
Ok Im looking to get a new set of tires for my RUF Speedlines 17x8 in the front and 17x9 in the back. Im getting these painted black since they are in pretty bad condition. Now I know about the Fuzion ZRi and the Kumo MX as good bang for the buck tires and I was wondering what others you guys might recommend. The current sizes I have on them now are 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. Should I stay with the same sizes? I dont know too much about tires so I would appreciate all the advice you guys can give me.

I'd also take a look at Yokohama ES100's and Avon Tech M500 at www.tirerack.com That site lets you see all the technical detail along with feedback from other users. I've had the ES100's on my BMW and been happy with them but I'm leaning towards the Avon's next time around.

Falken Azenis RT-615 is what I'll get next. And they are about as cheap as anything in those sizes, $112 and $126 from Vulcan Tire.

I have Kumho's new SPT and have really enjoyed them. They perform way better than their old 711s did and are (in my opinion) better than the Yokos. They're also great in the wet. My tires do see track duty and perform about as well as I'd expect a properly maintained tire should. Best of luck.

One of the reasons I really am enjoying going to 18 inch wheels...
Got a very slightly used set of Michelin Pilot Sports for $350. Just barely had the teats worn off. Think they were dealer take offs.
ei., you might try asking around for some used tires. A local Porsche shop here in OKC has a LOT of used tires for the budget minded.
Also, It's funny that Porsche owner look for cheap tires until you consider that a typical Porsche enthusiast goes thru tires about once a year. Well, I know I use up rear tires a least that fast.

Guys...
HE SAID INEXPENSIVE TIRES!
That means no more than around $125 per tire, new.
I can tell you that the Falken GRb FK-451 at about $125 per is probably the best real deal every day street tire out there for under $150 each. You have to run about 38-41psi in them, but they stick, don't blister, don't chunk, wear increadibly well, and are reasonably quiet. They have the side wall protector, a stiff side wall, and quick response.
If you have not tried a set, you should.
I've driven on pretty much every take off tire Porsche ever slapped on a car. And probably the best were the Conti-Sport and the Pirelli.
But on the same track, the Falken FK-451 is about equal (at 1/2 the price).
And I keep buying them. There's just no reason to go to anything else. And if you want more stick, then get a set of Hoosiers to run on the track. No street tire made will touch a Hoosier.
I just calls em likes I sees em....
