I started another thread because I am confused about the resistors with injectors thing. Earlier in this thread Daniel said if I bought the low impedance injectors from Racetronix I wouldnt need the resistors.....but what I dont understand is why then Lindsey and Vittesse dont just sell these types of injectors and instead sell injectors that require resistors.

What happens if you use injectors without resistors? Is there a serious consequence?

Where do these resistors attach? I dont recall ever seeing resistors attached to injectors on anyones engine. Does anyone have a pic of where these resistors go?

After further review of the Racetronix site it seems the high impedance injectors they sell are 12 ohms and the low impedance are 2.35ohms. Which do I use?

i believe some people mount them on the back fire wall. From what i have been told over time i have been here was that alot of people use resistors for track reasons because they are working twice as hard and heats up things.

You want the lower impedance, and you should still run a pair of 1 Ohm resistors on pins 14 and 15 to the DME.
The problem is that without the resistors, you run the risk of overheating your DME. You can run without them, but there's a chance for DME damage and no one likes that.

Edit: it really doesn't have much to do with track or street as the DME is expecting a certain voltage and if you are presenting it much higher voltage it will burn it up, regardless of how hard you are driving.
I mounted the pair of resistors in a project box near my AFPR - you can see it in the following pic - upper left hand corner (its the small aluminum square shaped box. The resistors are mounted in there with heatsink glue. The cables are routed back through the snorkel into the DME area and jacketed with fiberglass sleeve.

Holy ****.....thats a nice engine bay. Seems liek a lot of work to put in the resistors. Will the low impedence (2.35ohms) resistirs from racetronix damage the DME? What shoudl the ohm value be?

so much bling bling and go fast stuff, and you can't afford a pair of hood shocks?

Its a 931 hood, which doesn't have the mounts for the hoodshocks.

Edit: Andial - thanks. It was a lot of work but I was building a new harness for the car and wanted the heatsink in the engine bay.

The factory injectors are 5.5 ohms each. They are split into pairs and terminate at pins 14 and 15 on the factory DME. Each pair is wired in parallel, producing a net impedance of approximately 2.75 Ohms per pin. If you were to install 2.8 ohm injectors you would end up with a net impdedance of 1.4. You use a 1 ohm resistor on each pin to get the impedance closer to the factory 2.75.

1) can we have pics of the car, seems very nice.

2) get those Mad tight JDM hood shock kits... Lots of companies make em, including tien.

are 2.5 ohm low impedence units good for the 951? Do i need resistors for that?

The impedence is lower than the DME is looking for, no problem on the street. But some have expressed concern that extended high duty cycles (track) could cause the DME to get really hot.
