Default Fuel line replacement

I need new fuel lines ASAP since the little jumper is currently leaking and im afraid to drive it any longer. My first question is, will i get any negative effect from deleting the damper? The reason I want to do this is to rid my car of that little line that so commonly leaks. Then my second question is about steel braided lines. It just seems like a bad idea to have my hoses wrapped in steel directly over the exhaust. Wouldent it heat the hoses up quicker? Im thinking more along the lines of some kind of insulation.

1. I believe the only negative effect from deleting the damper is increased noise, but someone who has done it needs to chime in.

2. I think braided lines are a matter of choice. I agree that the steel ones will get hot, but of course they are rubber lined, and the fuel is moving through them and not static. So I have a hard time believing that there is that much heat transfer to the fuel assuming the lines are routed correctly and not laying directly on the headers. Of course there are options out there for thermal sleeving your lines if thats the way you want to go. And you always have the option to wrap your headers to reduce temps.

Here are some options for you from some of the best vendors for our cars.

I use Travis's Rennbay lines and have been very happy with them.

If I were you, I would start by contacting your dealer regarding the jumper line. There is a recall for this part and I have read where people have had this part replaced for free.
