Default Clutch group buy, six puck vs 930 clutch (review)

If I get the blessing from John D., how many guys will be interested in a Six puck E-Z lock Ceramic bronze sprung clutch or unsprung either way. It retails for $ 300.00 I can probably get it down to $ 150.00 a piece if we get 10 or more. According to Special Tool said that combined with the KEP stg I PP it will be good for 1000lbs of TQ.

I don't know anything about these - how to they compare to say the centerforce or cup clutches? How much to add the pressure plate you mention?

pressure plate is from KEP (kennedy engineering products) it can be purchase from EBS racing or paragon the KEP stg I goes for $ 525-595.00 . According to some users the combination will be good for 1000lbs of tq with no slippage, there will be noise in some cases and you will need to learn how to take off from standing still, because clutch modulation is almost non-existant, specially on the sprungless.

Sounds promising - any idea of longevity?

Who is running that kind of power in a 951 that requires such clamping force? Seems overkill, especially for the average car (even modded around say 300rwhp/rwtq, you are talking a 700hp/tq overkill), and to get 10 people who have cars that might actually need that type of clutch is going to be hard. I would imagine that clutch is very on or off, no slipping, making it very hard to get going for some people. Not to be the devil's advocate, but I routinely deal in 996TT's making 700-800hp, and puck clutches in them are not easy to drive for the average person trying to drive on the street. Just curious, I have never driven a 951 with a puck clutch like that.

I figured as much. We see a lot of the 911 guys who are disappointed with the feel of a higher stage clutch once they upgrade their horsepower. I don't think a lot of them realize there is a slight trade off of certain aspects of driveability with increased horsepower. Unless you go with a Tilton 3 disc.....that is like butter.

Yep, if one wants stock clutch feel, then this setup is not for you.

Your axles and tires will last much less than your clutch for sure.
