Question Opinions needed...

I have a complete (the whole thing!) '94 968 grey interior. It has the 993 style seats and the 911 style rear seats. Also it is the 10 speaker setup. I bought the interior to redo my silver '86 interior. I am going to sell that car because I bought Shmark's car last month ('86 red/tan). I don't think it would be worth my money to put that interior into the silver car. The red car has a perfect dash, but the carpet is ok and the seats are a little worn (not bad, no tears or rips).

What do you guys think? Should I swap the interior into the red '86? Or sell the 968 interior? Everything is grey in the 968 interior. Carpets, headliner, dash (perfect, but airbag), doors, everything. It is also in excellent condition. The seats are heated and full power. Opinions on red/grey combo are welcome. Also the question of resale...

Has anyone done this before?

Thanks!

Personally I don't like cars with the same interior/exterior color (ie silver and gray) but thats just me.

I guess it would depend on the condition of the interior of the car to be sold; if the interior was really ratty - bad dash cracks, rips in the seats and console, worn out carpet then the swap would make sense, but otherwise I would leave it alone.

Also I think the Red/tan combo would look better than a red/gray would look. My old 944 was red/tan and its one of my favorite color combos

Man, if you lived closer, we should find a blown engine 944t, buy the 17k motor on here for sale and put that interior in a blue/red/black/white/burgundy car and resale it and split the profits.

Ski,

I wish! I need some money! Do you think it would help or hurt resale value if I have to sell the red car? (hopefully never)

aeronautica86 PM sent.

I did the full interior swap on my '86 from linen to black last year... looks great, but it was a PITA. Don't do it unless you need to or want to pretty badly.

I agree that red/grey would really not be desirable -- and red/tan (or camel or whatever) looks good, IMHO.

I paid about $1,000 for my new (to me) interior (dash, doors, console, seats f/r and carpet kit). Cost me another $1,500 to have it all installed by a local shade-tree guy (would have been at least $2k from a local porsche upholstery specialist).

My seats were Momo's, not leather porsche's and mine was not a 968 airbag interior, nor was my carpet kit all that good (even though it was the *high-end* kit from World Upholstery), either... so I'm guessing you could sell the entire interior for well over the $1k it cost me -- possibly *way* more... if I knew what I know now, it would be worth a lot to me to have a great stock carpet take-out and a matched all porsche interior.

I'd list the interior here in the classifieds, on eBay and in the PCA classifieds locally and nationally.

Thems my $.02

there are a lot of red/black combos out there, red and tan is one of my favorites, as is my own black and tan; I would keep the tan.

I wonder how gray seats and trim would look with black carpet. Might look pretty nice.

I am betting that updated gray interior would look awesome in a Guards 951, outside of the norm red/black. boring

OK, I take it back -- looks good with red/grey... the real PITA is the dash and carpet swap, but if you take your time it goes OK.

I also take back my previous comment, I think the red/gray looks good, but I still like the red/tan alot too...

btw, what are you going to do with the linen interior if you do swap it out...
